Giving proof during the NSW District Court nowadaysin her capacityas aprivatecitizen, Margaret Cunneen statedthe footballer normally stood up when femalesentered his presence, generallyremembered their names and appliedthem, and was "the first to offer a lady a chair or a drink".<br>
The 25-year-old Manly Sea Eagles fullback has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting and twice indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl outside his north Manly home on March 6, 2009.<br>
The crown alleges he digitally penetrated and tongue-kissed the teenager.<br>
Ms Cunneen was asked by Stewart's QC Tony Bellanto if the alleged actions were out of character for the footballer she knew.<br>
"Any allegation that Brett Stewart forced himself on any woman or girl is completely inconsistent with the character of the young man I know," she mentioned.<br>
She referred to his prominent media profile, saying people often approached him "including young womenwho are very, very keen to make his acquaintance".<br>
The trial is continuing before Judge Jonathan Williams.<br>
